Education for Health is a charity with over 30 years of experience of providing education, training courses and resources for Health Care Professionals to support patients with long term medical conditions.
Working in conjunction with The George Coller Memorial Fund, Education for Health has developed this free online educational resource ‘Supporting Children’s Health’. The online resource provides basic information on how to support children and young people with asthma.
Asthma has a huge impact on children’s lives; it is disruptive and can make a whole range of activities difficult. It is a serious medical condition; asthma attacks are very frightening and can be life threatening. In recognition of this, supporting pupils with medical conditions is a statutory requirement for schools in England and emergency inhalers became available to all schools in the UK in 2014.
Asthma is the most common medical condition affecting children and young people, and anyone who works regularly with this group will come across it.
This free online resource is a public access site with content developed by expert health professionals in consultation with teachers, sports coaches and children’s activity leaders. Anyone who uses the resource will gain the knowledge and confidence to support children with asthma, deal with emergency situations and could help save lives.
